Elephant Bar & Restaurant

Last night I went out to dinner with some friends and we wanted to try something new. We kept hearing people talk about this restaurant called "Elephant Bar & Restaurant" & decided to check it out. We went to dinner pretty late and were able to get seated right away. Going in, we didn't know much about the restaurant so it definitely took us a littler longer to order off of the menu. We started the night off with a bottle of white wine to split between the 3 of us. Their menu offers a wide range of moderately priced choices. Anyone could definitely find something worth their while; whether it be one of their many sandwich, fish, or asian inspired options. After ruling out a few choices I decided I was in the mood for something spicy; and settled on their Kung Pao Chicken for $10.95 [you can substitute shrimp for the chicken if you prefer, for an extra charge]. It also comes with the option of brown or white rice, and I chose brown.

We didn't have to wait long for the food which is always nice especially since we were starving! However after enjoying our food for a few minutes an employee came by with my friend's salad, even though she had already received the salad. But the server did play it cool, however I have seen this happen in previous restaurant experiences & they usually just leave the extra meal at the table, but this server took the extra meal somewhere else. I guess someone got a free meal...

Sorry, I don't have a photo of my meal but don't worry every item comes with its own picture on the menu. When the food first arrived I noticed the portion was a little small but I did however bring home some of it for leftovers. (Note: I LOVE leftovers!) When I first started eating it I didn't notice the heat level I was looking for but definitely saw the heat level in the dish. The heat was coming from the Chile de arbol, more on this later. Okay, its later...I don't know what I was thinking but I took one of those chiles and ate the whole thing! It did not take long for that heat level to kick in because in seconds I was in tears, yes I cried over a chile. After a few minutes, and a few sips of water later I was able to enjoy my food again and made sure to not make that idiotic mistake again. In the end, it was a good first experience with good food and exceptionally good service. I would definitely return and hope to soon so I can try something else because I have a list of things I would like to try.

Leave comments if you have ever been to Elephant Bar because I want to hear what you think as well.
And remember I am not your mom & I am not going to tell you to stop playing with your food, so play away!
